Honors 220: Digestive Physiology
This was one of my very favorite classes, hand down. I learned a ton about how the digestive system breaks down and absorbs food, reabsorbs water, uses enzymes, and communicates with the rest of the body via hormones. Having some science experience under my belt before I took the class, I felt like I was in my element. At the same time, it was really nice to take a class with the characteristic Honors mix, with students from all disciplines, with all levels of experience with physiology. Professor Tolga Bilgen was a delight, giving animated lectures on fascinating experiments, and leaving me with a sense of accomplishment when I was able to succeed on his exams. The final part of our grade was a presentation that could be done on any topic related to digestion we could think of . Being a microbiology nerd, I thought it would be fun to do a presentation on enterohemorrhagic E. coli. The presentation notes can be found below.
